Program Overview

The Certificate in Information and Cybersecurity Management is a structured six-course program that takes learners from foundational IT knowledge through to applied cybersecurity practices, frameworks, and business applications. Beginning with the fundamentals of IT architecture and the modern threat landscape, learners build a solid understanding of how systems, networks, and cloud environments operate. From there, the program moves into applied security practices aligned with the eight CISSP domains, examines governance frameworks including ISO, NIST, SOC 2, and ITSG-33, and culminates in the ability to design and implement an Information Security Management System (ISMS).

What makes this program unique is its integration of practice and leadership. Each course is designed and led by subject matter experts (SMEs) who bring frontline knowledge into a virtual, interactive environment, ensuring learners don’t just understand cybersecurity concepts—they know how to apply them in real-world contexts.

Learning Outcomes

  • Understand and apply the eight CISSP and the five CISM domains.

Prepare for Certification

An Information and Security Management Certificate from the University of Ottawa Professional Development Institute is a steppingstone to certification as a Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) by the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA).

ISACA’s CISM certification is for those with the technical expertise and experience to move into information and cybersecurity management positions.

By completing our program, you will be better prepared to embark on your cybersecurity career, gaining experience towards your CISM certification.
