Ashley Casovan, Director, Data Architecture and Innovation, Treasury Board
Curious about how new technology has an impact on the delivery of public services, Ashley has worked in progressively challenging positions at all levels of government. Since 2010, she has been actively involved in Canada's Open Data and Open Government Community both as a community champion and implementer. Her new role as Director of Data Architecture and Innovation at Treasury Board Secretariat, has led her to expand her knowledge and engage others to discover the world of Open.
Her passionate and innovative character drives her to help lure in and shine a new light on the world of Digital Government. With ongoing projects relating to GC data strategy, AI policy instruments, AI procurement tools, and Leading Open First initiative, she hopes to bring that same passion to those around the GC.
Christopher Willis, Applied AI Architect at NetApp
Christopher Willis is a highly experienced and creative data management expert. He specializes in the management, mining and protection of corporate information assets. He provides strategic counsel to customers in the areas of Data Analytics, AI, Cyber Security, Finance, Applications, Cloud, Converged storage and information management solutions. Willis has over 25 years of experience in managing and technical solution presales, assessment and design for Fortune 500 companies in such verticals as defence, healthcare, medical imaging, banking, insurance, telecommunications and pharmaceuticals.
His particular interest is in the intersection of technology and science. This intersection has been explored as a personal passion in digital imagery, robotics, drones, Bioinformatics, Genomics and Proteomics. Willis has held a variety of executive and management roles. He began his career as a MARS Officer in the Canadian Navy. Willis has a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) degree from Concordia University.
