Emotional connections and the emotional brain: How your audiences' decisions are made with love not logic

In a data driven world where results, ROI and efficacy are under constant scrutiny, the communications world has seen a shift towards investing in technology and data management to the detriment of building resonant connections with its customer base. Since our species first learned to communicate, the power of the story has driven human connections. The problem is – we've forgotten that we are a species! We are animals with animal instincts and emotional needs, and it's vital that communicators feed that need to drive customer behaviour.

This session will look at the neural impulses that drive decision making, and expose some misconceptions about our approach to communications. A sometimes funny and irreverent look at the process of storytelling will help you guide your future story or brand building initiatives, and give you some neuro-scientific opinions on what will resonate with your audience to drive behavioural change.

Lunch will be served.

When: January 31, 2019 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Where: University of Ottawa, Alex Trebek Hall, 157 Séraphin-Marion, Ottawa ON K1N 6N5
