Cyber Security Pragmatics / Essentials for Business and Government

This course examines the nature of cyberspace, provides a strategic understanding for leadership and management within this domain, and explores multi-stake-holder engagement/partnerships strategies to address challenges for inter-governmental and multi-level governance of cyberspace.

The material covers the practical/critical aspects of cyber security, including: governance, compliance, regulation, standards, norms, legal, privacy, policy and best–practices.

Participants will benefit from the insight of deep-generalists to help translate complex socio-technological issues and make them both understandable and relevant.

The course will begin by forming a common understanding of cyberspace and the strategic planning process before applying imperatives of compliance. We will look at integrated risk management framework and threat reduction while generating efficiencies in the business through cyber security practices.

Dave McMahon has an honours degree in computer engineering from the Royal Military College of Canada and 35 years experience in defence, security and intelligence.  Dave was a CSO, COO to defence, telecommunications and intelligence organizations, co-chair or the Interdepartmental Committee on Information Warfare, expert witness to the Senate and special advisor to the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, and intelligence oversight and review. Dave is currently the Chair of the CADSI cyber council, and the CEO of Clairvoyance Cyber Corp.
