Supercharge your project management by mastering project management software. Project management software is de rigueur as a tool in modern project management, and proficiency with it is a reflection of your professionalism as well as a powerful tool for increasing project success.
This two-day workshop will bring attendees with little to no experience with project management software to a level of comfortable proficiency. As the most prevalent project management software in North America, Microsoft Project will be the software of focus for this course. The workshop is fully hands-on, with all learning exercises performed on computers provided by the University. Familiarity with Windows and basic knowledge of project management is an asset.
Project management software is a vital tool at all stages of the project management lifecycle. During Initiation, it can be used to communicate a summary vision of the project scope, schedule, and budget. During Planning, it can be used to easily create a project management plan, including work breakdown structure[M1], resource assignment, detailed schedule, and detailed budget. During Execution, it can be used to track project performance for enhanced monitoring, control, reporting, and resource management. During Close-Out, it can be used to evaluate overall project success and generate lessons learned.
