Business Process Improvement for Personal Efficiency

Overview

3 PDUs

Prerequisite: Business Process Improvement: An Introduction

This course is built around the Lean tools that were applied to organizational processes in the introductory course. Here, we will apply them to personal use and deal with the obstacles that diminish productivity.  We will explore the 5S process and other variations of the Lean model to eliminate inefficiencies and enhance our ability to produce more with the same (or less) effort, reducing stress as we regain control over our workload.

Using work-related simulations, we will apply the tools and techniques to get start-to-finish evaluation and streamlining of the work to be done.  We will look at managing workflow, tackling complex or longer tasks, and adding strategies to deal with productivity thieves, to deliver more value to citizens or clients, while applying Lean on a personal level.

This course can provide up to 3 PDUs / contact hours towards attaining or maintaining the Project Management Professional (PMP)® designation. Participants must submit the request to PMI via the Continuing Certification Requirements System (CCRS).

Professional Development Units are allocated according to the number of training hours completed by the student and may be granted by increments of 0.25 PDU for each 15 minutes of training. A participation certificate will be given to students who attend a minimum of 75% of the course.
