Knowledge Management – An Introduction


Knowledge management (KM) comprises processes and practices in organizations that formalize the management and use of an enterprise’s intellectual assets. Effective knowledge management  requires a collaborative and integrative approach to the creation, capture, organization, access and use of information assets including the tacit, uncaptured knowledge of people.

During this course, you will learn about business analysis frameworks and strategy roadmaps relevant to the planning and execution of knowledge management initiatives in organizations. The objective of this course is to build an expansive understanding of the core principles of knowledge management, and to discuss best practices for establishing impactful knowledge management programs.

Jasmin Manseau, MBA, B.Eng is a Long Term Appointed Part-Time Professor at the Telfer School of Management in Ottawa, where he teaches strategy, entrepreneurship, knowledge management, and information systems at the undergraduate and graduate level. He is also a course lecturer in information technologies, innovation, and entrepreneurship at the Université du Québec en Outaouais and the Royal Military College in Kingston.

Before joining the University of Ottawa, he worked as a Petroleum Field Engineer for Schlumberger in Western Canada and as a Management Consultant for Deloitte. He co-founded a software development firm that offers enterprise-wide software solutions such as knowledge management systems for public and private sector organizations. He is a seasoned professional in information technologies that focuses on harnessing value for organizations by leveraging digital technologies to facilitate knowledge capture and dissemination in organizations.

He earned an MBA at the University of Ottawa and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering at McGill University. He is pursuing a doctoral degree in digital technologies at Queen’s University. His research areas include the strategic and entrepreneurial uses of artificial intelligence in organizations.


Badou Bousso is a professional translator, language teacher and editor. He has worked in-house and as a freelancer for almost two decades. His professional experiences have taken him to the United States and France. Badou currently works as a content coordinator for a medical association in the National Capital Region. In this capacity, he creates, updates and revises internal content for the membership department, and also contributes to the association's website. Badou received his Knowledge Management certification in 2011. He uses his expertise in this field to foster collaboration, learning, process improvement and plain language. He was the recipient of several Ottawa Regional Contact Centre (ORCCA) awards from 2012 to 2019. An avid lover of classical literature and languages, he hopes to complete (one day) his doctoral studies in francophone literature.

Badou currently lives in Gatineau and is responsible for francophone relations for Reviewers Canada (Ottawa-Gatineau).
