Training workshop on Employment Equity for Members of the Association of Professors of the University of Ottawa

Overview

The synchronous training workshop will be delivered by facilitators from Canadian Equality Consulting (CEC). The CEC's services were retained following a call for quotes conducted by a joint selection committee composed of members of APUO and the University of Ottawa. The CEC has extensive experience in providing equity, diversity and inclusion training, particularly in university settings. Sessions are offered, in French and English alternatively, starting this December. The dates for the English sessions can be found at the end of the page. Heather Collier (she/her/elle)

Lead Strategist, Canadian Equality Consulting

Heather is an experienced policy professional, who has spent her career tackling some of society's most wicked problems.

As a Lead Strategist, Heather supports organizations in developing policies, programs, and plans to support systemic change to ensure more authentic and purposeful relationships. She leads engagements, facilitated discussions, and qualitative research to help organizations find their unique path toward greater diversity, equity, and inclusion.

With nearly two decades of experience in a government setting, Heather has led major policy files and engagements on key issues relating to poverty, human rights, economic development, and cross-jurisdictional negotiations. Heather is well-versed in the principles and practice of GBA Plus analysis and in navigating complex bureaucracies and supporting them through periods of transition. Her speciality is helping drive organizations to the root causes of a problem and creating concrete solutions to address complex challenges.

Heather holds a BA and MA in Political Science from the Universities of Calgary and Alberta, with a focus on gender-based Canadian policy development. When not working, Heather enjoys spending time with her family, weightlifting, and is always up for trying new activities - this year she learned to ski and highland dance!

 

Anne-Norrante Alexandre (she/her/elle)

Consultant, Boreala Management

Charismatic, cheerful, and adept at relaxing the atmosphere, her number 1 rule is to combine work & fun. Anne-Norrante has a varied experience in human resources management, in consulting as well as in SME, among others, in the retail industry.

Dynamic, caring, dedicated, and committed, Anne-Norrante has the well-being of her clients at heart. She stands out for her ability to listen, her professionalism, and her critical thinking. As a consultant, Anne-Norrante always proposes strategies adapted to the client and designed to last over time. Her kindness and passion enable her to lead her projects to success and to obtain long-term results. Innovation and creativity are watchwords in her practice. Anne-Norrante is versatile: her main areas of expertise are HR fundamentals, training and development, organizational effectiveness, employee engagement and motivation, large-scale project management, and skills development. Not to mention that she can certainly help you with your various recruitment strategies and anything related to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

She has a bachelor's degree from the University of Montreal in psychology as well as a diploma in human resources management and organizational development from HEC. As she never does anything halfway, Anne-Norrante chose to complete her studies at Université Laval in management. She also has a keen interest in experiential learning and, to hone her skills, she has taken training on this method, including Kaospilot.

 

James Demers (he/him/il)

Senior Strategist, Canadian Equality Consulting

James has worked for over a decade as a professional public speaker, facilitator, and diversity educator across a variety of sectors both locally and nationally. After many years in the non-profit sector working on diversity initiatives he now specializes in LGBTQ and Gender inclusivity, and works on various trans health initiatives and social systems change projects. James has committed his life and career to building bridges of understanding in the workplace, institutions, and communities around us which allow us to move forward together. He is also a certified personal trainer, entertainment producer, podcast aficionado, performer, and enthusiastic bunny dad.
